Health Tip #86: Enjoy your workout fully by moving your body to the pace of your music

Here's something I do when I'm either powerwalking, running in the forest or running on the treadmill at the gym.

I usually run at the same pace of the song that I'm listening to, and when the song changes, I adjust the pace I'm running at to match it up.
This makes the exercise more fun and it helps motivating me to continue exercising.

Right now, due to the beat, one of my favorite songs when I'm working out is "Outta My Head" by Ashlee Simpson (ft. Timbaland).

Which is your favorite song to listen to while you're working out?
Does it make your workout more fun?

That sounds like a great idea - keep the music fast and you will work harder! I must admit that I tend to watch TV while working out so normally there is no music.

Great and original advice - I'll definitely use it in future :-)

Rachel,
Thanks! I never had the TV on (and never watched it if it is on at the gym!) but I can see that it would be fun that too!

I ride a stationary bike with one hand glued to the remote control, watching mindless TV...one of the few times during the day when I can shut down my brain.

This is a good idea, however I find that some people play the music so loudly they cannot hear what's around them and this can be dangerous.

Leo (Healthy Tips For A Healthy Lifestyle) said...

Foongpc,
Yeah, that's true. Especially in traffic! Not to mention how it affects the hearing..!
